CGB Diabetes Awareness!

Charity Gives Back is Centered and Committed to Diabetes Awareness and Education. Diabetes is a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood and urine. I have diabetes and my mother has lived with Diabetes since she was 39 years of age she is now 74 years old.

Diabetes can strike anyone, from any walk of life.
And it does – in numbers that are dramatically increasing. In the last decade, the cases of people living with diabetes jumped almost 50 percent – to more than 29 million Americans.

Worldwide, it afflicts more than 380 million people.  And the World Health Organization estimates that by 2030, that number of people living with diabetes will more than double.
Today, diabetes takes more lives than AIDS and breast cancer combined -- claiming the life of 1 American every 3 minutes.  It is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, amputations, heart failure and stroke. Living with diabetes places an enormous emotional, physical and financial burden on the entire family. Annually, diabetes costs the American public more than $245 billion.

Just what is diabetes?
To answer that, you first need to understand the role of insulin in your body.
When you eat, your body turns food into sugars, or glucose. At that point, your pancreas is supposed to release insulin.  Insulin serves as a “key” to open your cells, to allow the glucose to enter -- and allow you to use the glucose for energy. With diabetes, this system does not work.
Several major things can go wrong – causing the onset of diabetes. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes are the most common forms of the disease, but there are also other kinds, such as gestational diabetes, which occurs during pregnancy, as well as other forms.

Charity Gives Back Beginnings

Charity Gives Back Store started with an idea and also discovered that there was so much home furnishings past and present that flooded the storage's since the collapse of the economy, recession hit in 2008 here in the Central Valley of California The housing market bubble burst as in many places around the U.S. Modesto CA. I also lost our home and ended up giving much away to my Children and selling some and the rest went into storage.
Another factor was I came home one day and my wife was watching Antique Road Show she said I needed to learn value of Artist paintings and names of porcelain products along with other things. I also started watching American Pickers Show and learned so much. Wanted to recreate both worlds I went out passed some fliers to people having garage sales asking to donate their items to Charity Gives Back asking if they wanted to unload their items that they no longer wanted. In doing so I found a location on a major street in town. I knew that all things could not be sold due to damage and ware and tare.
The silver lining was the items of Antiques, Vintage and Collectibles. This is the short version of the beginnings of CGB.

New beginnings are always exciting and challenging, Two year anniversary and counting business is always a challenge but it gets easier as the months pass, people know your store new people discover the unique things that are for sale and the people that come back are always having fun digging picking and seeing new things they didn't see before! There is no finish line in business, the trials, the tribulations, the victories, we champion opportunities. conquering is a fluid situation. Charity Gives Back located in Ceres California 1937 Mitchell Rd. A busy road an annex between east Modesto to Hwy 99 south. 2017 Looks to be bigger better 2 years and counting we are still evolving. Being a small Business with a personnel service friendly, passionate, sincere and willing to be better in inventory appeal and price. 50% off the entire store until the end of January.
